Under the agreement, the ComAlerter – a two-way messaging device with GPS – will be deployed by emergency services which use the Airwave network.

Announcing the agreement, Tony Boyle (pictured), chair of Sigma Wireless Group, said: “This contract now places us in a position to really drive significant growth for our business.”

Richard Bobbett, chief executive officer of Airwave, commented: “Airwave is continually seeking to identify and partner with innovative companies, which forms part of our commitment to deliver quality products that fill a gap in the market and that deliver true, quantifiable benefits to our customers.”

Sigma Wireless will carry out device assembly and system integration activities at its headquarters in Finglas, Dublin. The ComAlerter system was jointly designed with Isle Systems, a specialist in lone worker systems and personal safety.

Welcoming the announcement, Tom Kelly, head of electronics at Enterprise Ireland, said: “Irish electronics companies continue to impress on the international stage, winning new business with a strong customer focus and commitment to innovative technology. Enterprise Ireland looks forward to continuing to work with Sigma Wireless Communications on their growth and internationalization.”
